Winch Safety Part 1

I chose "Winch Safety" as the topic for my second article as Safety Officer. I realize that this may be old news to most of you. However I see potential hazards every time I witness a winch in use. Occasionally a "strap out" won't do the trick and winching is the best alternative. But please keep in mind that not exerting caution can be extremely dangerous and could lead to serious injury or fatality. There are certain things that should be done and rules to be followed for your safety and the safety of others.

These guards are designed to be installed on a 1997 or newer Jeep TJ Wrangler. Read ALL instructions thoroughly prior to starting.   1. First jack the jeep up and secure it on jack stands. I placed the stands at the outside ends of the tubes, between the springs and the backing plate for the brakes.
